Mangala meets UNDP head in New York

Sri Lanka’s Foreign Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera today met with the head of the United Nations Development Progamme (UNDP) Helen Clark in New York.
The pair reportedly discussed assistance under the UNDP to Sri Lanka’s development journey.
“Met #SriLanka Foreign Affairs Minister Samaraweera; in NYC for #UNDP50 this week. @UNDPSriLanka an important partner,” Clark wrote on Twitter.
Minister Samaraweera is scheduled to attend the UNDP 50th Anniversary Ministerial Meeting to be held in New York City tomorrow (24).
The event to mark the 50th anniversary of the UN Development Programme’s (UNDP) founding will bring together ministers from around the world and UN partners to discuss how to translate the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development into concrete actions and results.
Participating ministers will share their vision for how UNDP can contribute to countries’ efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
UNDP has been working in Sri Lanka to achieve sustainable human development in economic, social and environmental fronts since 1967.
